After last year’s success Queensland University of Technology’s Independent Music Project (IMP), in conjunction with Sounds Like Brisbane, Mushroom Music Publishing, MGM, Music Sales, 4ZZZ, QMusic and Arts QLD, is again looking for around 70 of Brisbane’s best independent bands and songwriters to record 100 songs in 100 hours. The project will focus local, national, and international attention on Brisbane’s best independent music to help identify and promote new talent.

To apply you will need:

  • A bio (.doc or .pdf)

  • An MP3 of your original and previously unreleased song

  • A photo (.jpg only)


  • Entry is open to all independent artists regardless of genre and make-up (band, solo artist etc)
  • Songs must be original
  • Songs must be previously unreleased
  • Songs must consist of both music and lyrics.
  • Artists must be independent (i.e. not signed to a major label)
  • Artists must agree to Terms and Conditions
  • Artists must be available during recording week
  • Artists must take part in a short survey conducted by QUT staff
  • Artists who feature on the compilation album  “Twelve: The Best of IMP's 100 Songs Project 2011” are not eligible to enter.


  • Songs submitted are not judged on the basis of recording quality, only songwriting and performance quality.

  • Artists will be assessed on the basis of one song only but may have the opportunity to record more than one song for the project.

  • Artists are encouraged to consider song length in terms of radio playability.
