QUT Gasworks Studio

The QUT Independent Music Project (IMP) announces the opening of its new, state of the art recording and production facility, the QUT Gasworks Studio, located in Newstead on the edge of Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley entertainment precinct. Home of IMP’s A&R Lab, the QUT Gasworks Studio provides a high-level music writing and production environment for IMP researchers and the industry.

The A&R Lab develops music talent in collaboration with industry partners and assists in connecting it to music markets through incubator-style artist development programs.

The studio provides premium signal paths to 2” 24-track analogue tape and a 32 i/o Pro Tools HD3. Rooms include a timber floored live room, iso-room and large control room with 5.1 monitoring capability. A spacious recreation and meeting area and eat in kitchen are also available. Several other production spaces are available and two other studios are under construction, coming online in 2010, extending the capacity of the facility.

Equipment includes Amek and MCI classic consoles, Neve, Vintech, JLM and EMI/Chandler pre-amplifiers, Steinway grand piano; Universal Audio, Purple Audio, Retro Instruments Sta-Level, Pendulum Labs and Teletronix dynamics processing, along with boutique processors including Fulltone tube tape echo and Thermionic Culture valve distortion.
