Bio
Gold Coast surfers Jarryd, Michael and Sam have collaborated together to form a splendid trio by the name of 'Pirates Alive.' Their surf/garage flavour comes from their lifestyle they live, and the soundtrack to match it. Their unique and catchy sound is created through traditional influences ranging from Pink Floyd, The Doors and Led Zeppelin.
Their music began early 2010 when Michael and Jarryd would write songs together over a few beers and whatever else through acoustic jams. Midyear their close friend Sam, who had always played drums throughout high school, then met up with the boys to add even more to their sound, and from there something clicked and 'Pirates Alive' was formed.
The next step for the Pirates was to record a demo to promote their music. At the beginning of March 2011, they entered the studios at Griffith University to get three tracks down and recorded. Since then, the songs have been uploaded onto their Unearthed page, which managed to find a spot on the weekly charts after just a few days.
2011 is hoping to be a big year for the pirates, with already four upcoming gigs in the next few months, and are aiming to get more demo's recorded as soon as possible to spread the sound of 'Pirates Alive!'
