Bio
In 2009 Bec Plath wowed Australian music fans and critics alike with her debut solo release 'Unrequited'. After two long years the Brisbane based singer/songwriter is back with brand new material guaranteed to wow all over again.
Prior to recording and performing as a solo artist, Bec had already made her mark on the Australian music scene as a part of the very successful Brisbane outfit The Bloodpoets. Since forming in 2005 The Bloodpoets have toured the country on their own headlining tour as well as supporting some of the biggest names in Australian music including, End of Fashion, the Whitlams, British India and The Panics. When 4ZzZ compiled their Hot 100 of 2010, The Bloodpoets' track 'Dance' came in at number three. Bec was able to go one better, taking out the number two position with her most recent release 'At the End of the Night'.
Bec promises her new EP 'Nightfall' will be more polished than her debut with greater complexity in the arrangements and vocals. "For people that heard my last CD, I think they will be surprised how far this recording is from the last," says Bec Plath. "I'm a singer/songwriter that takes full advantage of a full backing band. So the arrangements are lush and full with lots of vocal harmonies. Some songs are delicate and some songs are roaring classically charged rock."
Bec Plath launched 'Nightfall' in her hometown of Brisbane at the Beetle Bar followed by performing in Sydney, Melbourne, Launceston and Yamba in support of her release. "I think my songs live sound even bigger than what they do recorded. I feel I come alive on the stage. I am not your every day singer/songwriter," says Bec. "I have a 5 piece backing band that plays with me, creating a lot more of a rockier sound than what people expect from me. But it all comes back to the songs, and I hope that some will connect with something that you have experienced in your life."
